Join us for a Meeting

Guests are most welcome at any St George’s Toastmasters meeting, and are always assured of a comfortable and warm visit. We're all there to help one another improve: from people in their first job, on the executive ladder or retired, those in promotion, in tertiary study, experienced or inexperienced speakers - there's room for everyone and we welcome visitors and new members.

Guests are very welcome to attend a club meeting or other function and are not asked to participate in any part of the meeting.
We provide you with follow up information for you to take away, and will happily answer any questions you have about being a Toastmasters member.

A Typical Meeting

Our Toastmasters meetings are designed to help us in ourspeaking, listening, teaching and leadership skills.

Here's how a typical meeting runs:

  • One member is the designated "Toastmaster" (Master of Ceremonies) for the meeting.
  • Three speakers present prepared speeches.
  • Members of the club then present feedback on the speeches to help other members learn from their strengths and to help the speakers improve.
  • We end with a session of impromptu speaking, to help sharpen our skills in speaking at short notice.
