What prompted you to join?
I decided to join as I had had a public speaking malfunction at a work function.

What’s your favourite part of a St Georges Toastmasters meeting?
  1. Icebreaker speeches
  2. A vibrant tabletopics.
  3. A speech about a topic I hadn’t previously given much thought to

What’s been your biggest speaking challenge/ success?
Representing the District twice.
I think I have had speeches good enough to go further a few more times but haven’t been able to convince the judges.

Is there anything else you think potential members should know about St Georges or Toastmasters?
Toastmasters builds confidence both socially and in many aspects professionally.

What prompted you to join?
I gave an emotional speech at my Mum's 70th and cried most of the way through it. Made half the audience cry, but they couldn't understand what I was saying.

What’s your favourite part of a St Georges Toastmasters meeting?
Ditto for Bills faves.

What’s been your biggest speaking challenge/ success?
Giving another emotional speech about my Dad passing away. Still had a tear or two (from me and the audience), but I was clearly understood.

Is there anything else you think potential members should know about St Georges or Toastmasters?
My confidence has grown considerably from all aspects of Toastmasters, not just the prepared speeches. Table Topics is now one of my favourite parts of the meeting and soemthing I relish taking part in.

What prompted you to join?
Love to talk but wanted to be talk about more interesting topics than movies, weather and work!

What’s your favourite part of a St Georges Toastmasters meeting?
Evaluations of both my speeches and others - its where I learn so much about how to improve my skills.

What’s been your biggest speaking challenge/ success?
  • Challenge: I need to work on cutting down my speech content and practicing more to beat the clock - damn that red light!!
  • Best success: Completing my Competent Communicator award after having a baby - it was a long time coming but worth the early starts
